A Paradigm can be thought of as the framework that has unwritten rules that direct actions. Many people seek help because they do not understand the rules they created to manage lives that are relationally dysfunctional.
When one's paradigm loses influence and another takes over, there is a paradigm shift. This shift can be an improvement or lead to further dysfunction.
Many times people are fixated on life's problems only to apply their paradigm more fervently, with even less success.
Counseling can help you gain perspective from which to consider a paradigm shift toward gaining relational facility, purpose, and wellbeing.
It is a good idea to interview counselors before entrusting yourself to their care. I would be no exception. I provide a 30 minute free interview for each new client. You can set up an appointment here.
